Mauk Donnabhain welcomes you

I’ve had three blogs previously and I’ve written many thousands of words on my blog about world culture, Learning about the World, which was my main writing project between 2009 and 2015.

Now that I’ve started writing poetry and had my first short story published (in April 2017, in The Galway Review), I’ve decided to bring all my writing and creativity together in one place and also link that to a Facebook page I’ve set up to keep people updated on my travel, writing, blogging and other creative endeavours.

I’m writing this first blog post in Negombo, Sri Lanka, in the middle of a furious thunder storm – an apt way to launch my writing profile on the world!

The first image I’ve chosen for this new site is a photograph of two statuettes in my colleague’s house – a mother and baby elephant – a lucky image and tribute to Ganesha, the god of scribes!

  1. Hi Mauk, I have just read Tim Lott’s book “The Scent of Dried Roses” and found your comment on Goodreads. I wanted to tell him how I lived in Southall in the 1950s but I don’t seem able to find him. I may try tweeting again as I don’t use facebook. Anyway, it got me writing about my time there, so different from nowadays.I also lived South of the Uxbridge Road!
    Julie.
